1 cup pearl barley; 2l milk; 70g butter; salt
Pearl Barley with butter (Kasza jęczmienna)
Leave the barley to soak overnight in cold water. Wash it thoroughly until the water runs clear. Place it in a heave bottomed pot or ceramic saucepan. Add half the butter and pour over the hot milk. Close the lid firmly and bake it in the oven at 100ºC or on a gentle heat on the stove for two hours. Melt the butter in 0.5l of hot milk, season with salt and add it to the pot, stir and close with a lid. Leave in the oven or on the stove for another hour. Serve with melted butter.
